Wreck Diving

The definition of wreck diving is a dive that targets the mystery of visit sunken vessels of any kind. This type of exploration, also known as ship wreck diving is what many divers can not resist. To seek the ancient disasters of long ago is an amazing experience, searching for the Titanic, searching through the wreckage of a WWII ship, while some will dive to take pictures and use the experience for further reasons whether it is education or a photography presentation.

While wreck diving may look exciting, it is important to learn the specific skills and knowledge needed for a safe dive. Required pieces of equipment for a wreck dive will include several pieces mainly for safety. While for most diving a dive knife is not necessary, for wreck diving, however, it can be the difference between a safe dive and disaster. A knife is best used for the lines, ropes or nets that have been behind, that often found in old vessels.

At the minimum a prospective wreck diver needs to be 15 years old, as well as holding a PADI adventure diver certificate. A wreck diving class will include the planning, organization, procedures, techniques and any possibly hazards that can occur during wreck dive. As well as the proper use of lights, equipment, air supplies, lines and reels. Most importantly is training in proper limited visibility diving and what to do in cases of emergency. The average time for a wreck diving class is 24 hours and will include four dives over a two day period. Once training has needed, the excitement of exploring the sunken vessels is within reach. Wreck diving is infamous for it rugged activities in diving to the depths in search of treasure – it is often possible to bring home artifacts as a remembrance of the dive and what was seen. In addition, these wreck dives make great underwater photography trips. Many who specialize in wreck diving while becoming experienced the similar technical wreck diving.

When training for a wreck diving certificate, it is important to keep in mind that this can be used as one of five specialty certificates required to acquire the master scuba diver certification. Many see diving as just a fun past time, for some it is a way of life so learning the difference types of dives and the people who wish to participate in them is key.
