Scuba gear has become a multi-million dollar business as more and more people are discovering it is an enjoyable and relaxing sport for the entire family.

Scuba diving gear consists of many major pieces, such as fins, vests, regulators and diving masks. Jacques Cousteau can be commended for scuba gear being invented, as he is on of the key people who worked to develop the first aqua lung regulator. Along with the aqua lung, Cousteau worked with other to invent not only the regulator but the underwater camera as well. With these inventions he was able to bring the first amazing pictures of underwater life.

White there was a time safety gear may have been uncoil now, however, they are considered more an accessories to scuba gear, than safety pieces. The most important are signaling devices that can be used visually or audibly to attract attention in case of any emergency. In addition these safety pieces can include first aid kits and help for stings that are bound to happen.

A new trend in scuba gear is catering to a specific type of buyer. For this reason some companies are introducing collections of scuba gear designed specifically for women, for men or children. With a team of women divers and designers, gear is put together that will be comfortable to dive with and be nice to look at. In addition material and designs are used to work with the many possibilities of a woman’s figure. In short, scuba gear is no longer just for a traveler and be gone for a few days. While dive suits may be important, scuba gear besides the obvious can include wet suits, scuba booties and fins, rash guards, masks and snorkels.

Technology has taken a large step toward scuba diving safety, along the lines of that technology is the added benefit and necessity of a dive watch or computer. All the information a diver needs is found in a simple watch that can be seen and used when most needed, as essential advantage when diving in deep waters or during a wreck or cave dive.

When it comes to scuba gear one of the more popular names is Body Glove, a name developed as a play on words to explain the fit of the wet suits. Now what started with wet suits now encompasses all types of scuba gear and accessories.
