Learn Diving Basics

To learn diving basics is fairly easy, but also very important. A PADI certification can be obtained at ones own pace, using books and videos to go through to learn scuba diving basics, with the instructor giving a short test following each course of study. Upon finishing the diving study guide, introductory dives will begin in confined waters, such as a pool or other shallow body of water. Once the basics of diving are learned and proven to the instructor – the next step is diving in open water, with an instructor present. It is best to learn at this level in smaller groups or if possible on a one to one basis.

A guide to diving will include information on the equipment needed to dive. This information will include what will be needed from the very basic to more complex.
In warmer weather a wet suit may not be needed, a vest will do, where as a dive in deeper cold water will require at the very least a dry suit to protect the diver from the cold.

Beyond that a good mask that seals against the face is key that will not allow water to get into the mask, in addition a pair of scuba booties and swim fins is recommended. In addition a snorkel, buoyancy vest, a regulator with gauge and extra mouthpiece. TO learn diving basics includes learning about this equipment before purchasing the piece’s needed.

The first step is to research the necessary equipment and be sure to keep in mind the fact that technology is constantly changing and purchasing outdated equipment will not be cost effective, since the dive equipment can be a rather large investment. Be sure to take the time to learn how each piece should work and fit. If a mask does not fit well and leaks or swim fins do not fit properly, the diving experience will be lost to the discomfort of the equipment. One of the best ideas is to visit the local dive shop and test the various pieces of equipment to see how it works, what is best for that diver and how much they cost. The basics when heading into the water knows how long the dive will take and how deep they will descent. One person should remain on the shore to serve as a spotter. After double checking equipment – the fun begins after entering the water and beginning to descend.
